Florence: 3 things to absolutely see!

If you come to Florence, walking around the city, you will surely notice these 3 very characteristic things, which you can not absolutely miss and whose history you must know!

The Piglet Fountain

This place is perhaps one of my favorites in Florence.
I remember when, as a child, my grandfather in the long Sunday walks in the center, he took me here and every time he told me from the beginning the story of this little pig.
Even at that time around the fountain there were always a lot of people lined up, waiting to rub the nose of that animal that says, whoever touches it, will return to Florence again.
But the story is not over here, in fact, the legend wants that, putting a coin directly inside the mouth of the piglet and being able to make it fall into the grilles of the fountain below you get a lot, but a lot of luck! Seeing is believing…

Buchette of wine

Of small little doors like these you will find many around Florence and maybe you wonder what they are and what their use?
No, it is not the entrance to Alice in Wonderland when drinking the potion becomes small …

The little wine holes were windows used just for the sale of wine or even to leave to the most needy some food and a glass of good red.
Today around the city there are more than 140! Have fun looking for them and photographing them because none is the same and some look like real works of art!

Lions

Not many know that one of the symbols of Florence is the lion!
This is why there are many leonine statues scattered around the city. The lion was chosen by the Republic of Florence because it is the only animal that can tear the eagle, which is instead the symbol of imperial power.
In the course of history Florence also decided to put cages with real lions in flesh and blood that symbolized the power and strength of the city !!!

  1. Everyone loves it whenever people come together and share opinions.
Great site, continue the good work! I could not refrain from commenting.
Exceptionally well written! I’ve been surfing on-line more than three hours these days, yet I never found
any attention-grabbing article like yours. It is beautiful value enough for me.
In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made excellent content material as you probably did,
the web shall be a lot more helpful than ever before.

  2. Hey there! Quick question that’s entirely off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly?
My website looks weird when viewing from my iphone 4.
I’m trying to find a template or plugin that might
be able to correct this problem. If you have any suggestions, please share.

    Thanks!
